Help Selling
A practical UK starting point for turning a food idea into a lawful, application-ready business on Direct Food Finder.
Start with where you operate
Your Direct Food Finder account area is not set. That helps tailor platform guidance, but it is not a council or legal jurisdiction. Confirm your nation and local authority before trading.
Home producers can apply to sell
Food made, prepared, stored, handled or sold from home can be a food business. Direct Food Finder supports the Home Seller route, but platform approval never replaces food-business registration, any required establishment approval or your legal duties.
A practical route from idea to application
Requirements depend on what you sell and where you operate. Work through the stages, then check the official guidance for your nation and local authority.
1. Shape the idea
Define the food, customer, production place and selling method. Check whether the activity belongs on Direct Food Finder before spending money or opening an application.
2. Become legally and operationally ready
Register each premises where required, check whether prior approval applies, build food-safety procedures and prepare allergens, labels, traceability, insurance, tax records, packaging and fulfilment.
3. Apply to Direct Food Finder
Submit truthful business, premises and evidence details through the separate Business Seller application. A Customer Account never creates or approves a seller account automatically.
4. Launch carefully and grow
Create accurate listings only when you are ready to trade. Then improve production, branding, photography, logistics and capacity without overstating stock, delivery reach or compliance.
Direct Food Finder does not register or approve your food business. Rules depend on what you sell and where you operate. Check with your food regulator and local authority before trading.
